Just finished this book during my beach vacation and it was great. Very smart humor that will play with an intelligent reader. That said, even an idiot will chuckle at some of the sarcasm throughout. I look forward to a sequel.
Very fun (yet dark) read about a character all to many of us late 20-something men can relate to. Great references, storyline and writing style helped my my cross country flight last week enjoyable. I look forward it thence piece of work to come from Greg Harty.
Entertaining from start to finish. Funny & smart with well developed characters. Looking forward to more from Mr. Harty.

once I got going it's hard to stop...Some funny twist and turns.

This book ended up being surprisingly enjoyable considering I don't usually gravitate to this genre. Yet, the macabre wasn't completely in your face. If anything, it was satirical and flat-out hilarious in some points, sort of a comedy/horror in the same vein of movies like "Zombieland." Definitely doesn't take itself too seriously, which adds to its charm. Solid read.
Great book, fun read and can't wait for the continuation of the story.
I don't laugh very often being a stand-up comedian. But this made me laugh, "Then Sandell understood what had happened, and rather than feel embarrassed for not immediately seeing through her flimsy story, patted himself on the back for his ability to subconsciously see through it." Honestly, when you get to this line, it is so funny on so many levels. But you really have got to be smart to get it. And this book is chock full of jokes for very smart people. So if you like demons, and you appreciate smart jokes and don't take life too seriously, I highly recommend, "The Non-Demonic Possession of Linus Maynard" for your reading pleasure.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It starts out so unassuming, with a seemingly average guy starting out his seemingly average day. And then it goes bat-guano crazy. Harty's writing reminded me a lot Douglas Adams, and that made the twists and turns of this book really fun to keep up with. I was caught completely off guard by the events that unfolded and just when I thought things had gone bonkers, Harty takes it to another level. Fresh and original ideas throughout, with hilarious character dialog.
Pros
-One of the most "fun" books I've read in a long time. The unexpected themes were original and entertaining.
-Funny. It's not too often I laugh out loud reading, and I did several times. The character dialog seems real, and comical. A bit tired of reading so much depressing gloom and doom, so it's great change of pace when horrible things can be illustrated in comical ways.
-Completely surprised by where this books goes (trying not to spoil). The end could not be further from the beginning chapter.
Cons
-No sequel to purchase. I don't often read new books by new authors so I generally like to pick up the next book right away. However, Harty has released a short story called, "The Hobo and the Unspeakable Horror," which I read immediately following the Non-Demonic Possession. It's everything the novel was, but I highly recommend reading the novel first.
Best pick-up in a long time and look forward to the next book in the series.
