You know the story well. The spirit of a deceased business partner returns from the afterlife to admonish and warn his living former partner. Just as Jacob Marley, Mark Alexander, deceased accountant, confronts Jim Hamilton, his living partner and member of a provincial aristocracy. Mark sternly chides Jim about his lukewarm Catholicism, but more directly about Jim’s indifference toward good and evil. Mark forewarns Jim that he will be visited by three spirits who will test his ability to discern good and evil. However, this is not Christmas, but Halloween, which very few remember today is also a religious holiday—All Hallows Eve, the night before All Saints Day. And unlike Dickens’ Christmas spirits, who emphasize peace on earth and goodwill toward men, in a simplistic naive way, the Halloween spirits’ wisdom is more complicated and critical. In fact, their lessons make Jim Hamilton confused, and quite uncomfortable. And Jim, as an everyman of contemporary American culture, squirms in his discomfort, which in the end becomes distress that motivates him to take his moral decisions more seriously.

This is the first book that I thought I was going to put down after ten pages and then ended up reading through in one sitting. This is what's going to happen when you read this book. You'll open it up, begin to read, and then think, "Crap, I know where this is going and this dude's going to preach at me for 150 pages." Don't give up on it. Keep reading and I'm sure you'll be as hooked in as I was after the exposition.
The author explains how the story is set up in the summery - so I won't bore you by going over that again. Get to when the "Ghosts" start showing up. That's when the book picks up steam.
It's hard for any Christian Fiction Inspirational book to not end up preaching the author's own theological bias. It's there, obvious, and honest. The author writes and afterword which he explains that he was trying to avoid (the unavoidable) preaching his own bias and get people to critically think about their life's choices and the culture around them. Droney succeeds in what he was trying to accomplish. He's adept at swaying the reader's thoughts, emotions, and biases - which really drives home his point at the end.
The twist he writes in doesn't suck either.
There are some grammar issues, but it doesn't take away from the quality of the work. The editor should have spotted these and left him with a clean manuscript.
This is a good book. If you are a fan of Christian Fiction I would recommended reading it.

A Halloween Carol edition by Robert Droney Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I finished reading this book over a week ago and I am still thinking about the points the author made about how to recognize good and evil. Like the other reviewers of this book, once I got past a couple of chapters that set the stage for the story, I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen to the main character.

While the story uses the structure of Dicken's A Christmas Carol, it has a devilishly delicious plot twist that caught me flat footed much like a batter expecting a fastball and then having the pitcher throw a curve.

This book has many levels and that makes it an interesting and pleasurable read

I have recommended this book to friends and family.
